Android app steals data USB Cleaver - Virtual Poland

specialists from the lab F-Secure identified the application – USB Cleaver – changing smarfton Android with a tool for stealing data from a connected computer.

The program, called USB Cleaver is able to extract information such as passwords used browsers (Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox), stored login information for the Wi-Fi and information on local LAN environment in which it operates the computer.

USB Operation Cleaver is to use script auto-run on Windows, which runs unobtrusively in the background go.bat file previously saved on your SD card in the folder sdcard / usbcleaver / system. Downloaded by a malicious program can then view the data in the application itself by clicking the “Log Files”.

– This is not the first detected this year Trojan capable of infecting PCs. However, unlike software that is mainly used for spying at a distance, USB Cleaver seems to be intended as a tool to facilitate the implementation of targeted attacks. Because the Trojan collects data useful for subsequent attempts to infiltrate – says Sean Sullivan, chief security advisor of F-Secure.

MinGW USB Cleaver infections can be prevented by using commonly recommended protection, consisting of disabling the Autorun (which is already the standard for devices running Windows 7).
