3M and Ideum two companies which together have decided to develop a new product, so the table with a large touch screen, working under the control of the operating system Google Android. Already in 2007, Microsoft unveiled for the first time this type of project, called Surface. Nearly seven years ago this device was treated as a mere curiosity, as each realized that the version of the market it would be hellishly expensive.
Ultimately, the projectMicrosoft Surface PixelSense started hitting, among others to hotels, expensive apartments, medical centers. Never device that was not addressed to individual customers. First of all because of the price. Perhaps another product of this type, which is a result of cooperation between 3M and Ideum, will have a chance to break through to private houses and apartments, although in this case would be the possessions of people with deep wallets. 3D and Ideum had previously designed the small tables with touch screens, working under the operating system Windows 8, but now their portfolio joins the project with Android.
Currently, both companies offer two models of the table with Windows 8 – Platform 32 and Platform 46 In both cases, using quad-core Intel Core i7 3.7 GHz frequency, screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, as well as Blu-ray Combo. The model captures the platform 32 to the screen 40 touch points simultaneously, while in the case of the model 46 is 60 points recognized. We know that Platform 46 is also equipped with a hard disk of 500 GB, 16 GB of RAM, while the less we drive 250-gigabyte and 8 GB of RAM.
3M and Ideum are planning to introduce to offer next table, Platform 46, operating under Google’s Android “Jelly Bean” 4.1. It’s a bit strange choice, because probably everyone would expect the use of longer version of “KitKat” 4.4. Perhaps in the future there will be an appropriate update. For now, the project developers say nothing about any changes in the operating system or copyright applications that would fully utilize the ability to recognize up to 40 or 60 points touch. It is worth noting that the table is of course waterproof.
We do not know exactly how much you will have to pay for a new table with Android. The cheapest version of the table Platform 32 with Windows 8 is priced at 5050 euros, so the 46-inch version of Android will probably be even more expensive.
