Google introduces Android phone with a new feature that will allow emergency services to reach injured persons. The company says that the Emergency Location Service during the year will help save thousands of people.

A new feature count is sending services accurate location of the phone from which the selected emergency number.

This function is now available for Android users in the UK and Estonia . Established in co-operation with a number of telecom operators and emergency services – Google announces on its European blog. With time, Emergency Location Service will be introduced in the following countries .

Emergency services in some countries may have to now use two types of data from the operators. None of them, however, were one hundred percent effective.

The first data came from cellular base stations. The radius of the range, however, comes up to several kilometers. hard on this basis to locate the caller with high accuracy. The second type of data is the data from the GPS module. These are much more accurate than information from the base stations, but often do not work best inside buildings.

That’s why Google decided to enter the function Emergency Location Service for Android phones. builds additional technologies used by other applications, such as identification of the location of the Wi-Fi . Finding people both outside and inside buildings will be now easier.

– This function will be used only by emergency services. Your exact location will never be seen or used by Google – provides the company. Data services are to be sent only when the emergency call.

The work is on phones with Android versions from 2.3 and above.
