AndroRAT.A – the biggest threat to Android 2015 – Telix.pl

for Android hackers love rats. But not in the form of furry and tailed animals. They prefer cyberszczury (cyber-rats), a tool for cybercriminals that provide functionality backdoor (vulnerability system created specifically for later use) and access to mobile users. In the past six months, BitDefender has identified AndroRAT.A, as
one of the most serious threats for Android in 2015.

These tools allow an attacker to remotely control the infected machine using
user-friendly control panel. Allows you to monitor and perform the GPS, activates the camera and microphone and access to the device.

However, if you want to buy such a tool to spy on his wife or neighbor, think twice. Police tracked down the merchants DroidJack, the Trojan with remote access, who bought it on the underground forums for around $ 200. There have been arrests in Europe and the United States, stopping people suspected of installing malware on mobile phones.

The police is also looking for the authors of this tool. The research lead to the names and numbers of several people involved in the creation of software that come most likely from Chennai, India. However, this trail might prove to be obsolete and people involvement may not know the details.

Hackers can easily hide with infected computers or specially forged IP addresses. Even if their location will be revealed and the police come knocking on their door, they can take extra safety measures to erase the hard drive, or take advantage of multi-level encryption tools to block compromising data. They can also avoid liability by claiming that their computer was used as a zombie (computer connected to the Internet, where without the knowledge of the holder was installed controlled from the outside by another person), or someone to it
hacked using WiFi. So the chances of stopping people who develop spy tools are very small.

But users who install the software on the computers should take full responsibility. And if the software has been used for research purposes to their own devices, they have to prove it.

“ AndroRAT began as an educational project several developers, and now has become one of the most successful of threats to the Android system last few years, mainly due to the nature of open-source ” – says Bogdan Botezatu, Senior Analyst Electronic Threats Bitdefender. “ This is an excellent example of how research project that falls into the wrong hands can wreak havoc on the natural environment.”
