Android in blue - CyanogenMod - TELEPOLIS.PL

among users of Android smartphones from time to time about the so-called scrolls. Custom ROMs and modified software. People often also shortcuts that less familiar with this system, users can speak a little CM, MIUI, AOSP, etc. For those who are more familiar with the system of Google, it is not no secret, so this text will be more dedicated to the people who just put your first steps with a green robot. And it will affect the most famous probably modify Android, which is already legendary CyanogenMod, which I will try to bring the readers.

What is CyanogenMod?

A quick answer is an alternative version of CyanogenMod Android based on the freely available source code, written by programmers but not Google, but a group of independent developers. The history of the CM goes back to 2008 and the launch of the first device with Android – HTC Dream, more well-known in Poland as the T-Mobile G1. Then it is the creator and father of CyanogenMod, Steve Kondik named, had the idea to modify the software available according to your preferences. Then it just came up with CyanogenMod (Cyanogen is a nickname Kondika under which operate on a network), which still operates in millions of mobile devices.
The HTC Dream CM appeared ports on another device, initially only HTC, later and other manufacturers. The Kondika joined by encouraging the development of CyanogenMod developers constantly growing community of users and supported devices. At present, work on the blue variant of the couple dozen Android developers, and joined to mobile tablets, navigation PNA and ebook readers. The official website of CyanogenMod is now more than 60 devices, although it is not a complete list, because there is no shortage of enthusiasts porters CM for not popular and not officially supported by the project smartphones.

Well, but what in general is that the CM and how it differs from what they offer us manufacture our machines? Generally CyanogenMod is based on pure open source Android, the rest of the system, including the kernel and support for all components and systems of the device was written almost from scratch by developers. So it is completely clean, free from all kinds of add-ons and applications system manufacturers. What’s more, some time in CyanogenModzie not find even the most basic applications such as Google Maps, Talk or Gmail. Most “GAPPS”, upload separately after the installation of the system as a separate item. This is because of a dispute over rights to the application of Google, whose presence in CyanogenModzie at some point began to annoy the giant network. Google requested the removal of informal distribution of its Android application, and creator of CM fear of a dispute with a huge corporation decided to extract them out of their work. For the end user it is not too much difference comes down to the installation of one pack more.

The first distribution of CM based on the Android 1.5 Cupcake and wore number 3.x, another (4.x) was based on 1.6 Donut, then similarly appeared 5.x based on Eclair (Android 2.0 and 2.1). Another distribution was androidowym 6.x based on Froyo (2.2), and then very popular, developed to date version 7.x as an alternative Android 2.3.x Gingerbread. The latest version of CyanogenMod 9.0 and 9.1 are based on the Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.x), 10 (Android 4.1.x), and 10.1, with a basis Jelly Bean version 4.2.x. Whew …

As you can see now, we have three distributions and constantly improving, still popular on older devices, CM 7.x It’s your choice. The most refined versions are now 9 and 10, and that on this last will be based on this Article. The newest of the creators of CM-10.1 version is for now under development and on most devices running the event as a so-called nightly.
