Malicious software ransomware is familiar to users of PCs and safety matter experts predicted that cybercriminals will attack in this way, the mobile device that is managed by the operating system Android (Google). And it happened. Symantec has identified the ransomware.

Cybercriminals place Android.Fakedefender malware inside Android looking for normal, harmless program. Symantec has detected such a program (not on Google Play, but on some sites), which works like Skype and offers the opportunity to make free phone calls.

After installing the app informs the user that the smartphone includes viruses, and therefore offers the ability to download software that will remove them. This is obviously a fake antivirus that does not remove any viruses but locks the device and the user wants to extort money for its repair.

If you refuse to pay protection money, malware takes various malicious activities. Depending on the version for example, can block the launch other applications, change settings on the Android operating system or cause the user is not able to completely reset your smartphone, restoring it to factory default settings.
