Native support for 4K is possible thanks to the new APIs that will allow you to use computing power imaging device. Currently used implementations were created by equipment manufacturers. An example is even a company Nvidia, which added specific support for 4K for Shield TV. However, the developers have put a lot of work to get a satisfactory effect.

Is native support for 4K will affect the performance? It should not, because Google has prepared a solution for users of smartphones with a screen resolution of less than 4K. If a media file is played back on the device Full HD, the image will be automatically resized. Video files will therefore automatically adjusted to the resolution, which has a device. While the equipment will allow, you can not upload the image in 4K to external monitors that are able to view them in this resolution.

Most of the current device with the higher-end should deal with viewing videos in 4K. Adreno graphics chips have native support for this technology from issuing Snapdragon 800. In a few months we should see how things look in practice.
