After a week with Android 6.0 Marshmallow … I do not feel the difference – Antyweb

Android 6.0 marshmallow landed on my Nexus. Truth be told himself it “landed” because waiting for the OTA from Google was extremely frustrating (even the Nexus Player users received faster new system). I installed the update manually and therefore more than a week checking it in action.

Android 6.0 is probably the most inconspicuous release of Android ever debuted. The changes are so invisible and imperceptible that it nazywałbym much eager to Android 5.2 or Android 5.5 as a last resort. The system for the past few months was available in public testing and feel it. In some previous updates it happened that Google had a few weeks later to patch some shortcomings and mistakes. It seems to me that here it will not be necessary, but it is hard superficial sense.

What has changed? Taking into account the daily use of smartphone, absolutely nothing. This does not mean, however, that new products are not visible to the naked eye. First of all, I gained a new Google Now Launcher with vertical scrolling inside the app drawer. Added here also handy strap of the most actuated programs and more functional search mechanism. Cosmetics. In the end, it alone can customize the icon on the status bar, which I really liked as always in CyanogenModzie, but to a very limited extent. To do this, but you must activate the hidden calibrator system by holding your finger on the icon rack. He was also one new – fast activation mode “Do not disturb”. And for that matter, it has also changed the management panel mode. We can now more accurately determine the time of deactivation notifications. However disappeared option “for the next alarm”, which often use it.

Another visual changes should be looking at the screen settings. It changed primarily list structure. Separated from each other the application list and information about occupied RAM – now they are two separate items. Importantly, each of them presents different.

The list of applications is now one screen, from which we can view all programs (with or without the system). Hence also we go to the panel rights management (more on that in a moment), the default applications and optimize the mechanism of the battery. The latter hibernates unused programs, so they do not absorb energy. The problem is that I did not feel his actions in practice. Next Nexus am charged every evening, and the intensity with which I use it does not change.

panel Information about RAM can now provide more detailed information. But most importantly, it changed its role – rather than current consumption shows average over 3, 6, 12 or 24 last hours. From the user’s perspective, the data is more useful. We can also preview the average for each application.

In addition, there is a new, called Google, which, as you might guess, leads to settings related to applications and services company. A small but very important new feature is an extra item on the screen with information about the system. I refer to “The level of security fixes Android”. Shown here is the date of the last update of security. All loopholes in the system detected after that date represent a potential threat for us. This is a valuable knowledge, although nothing we can do about it.

The most interesting novelty of Android 6.0, so Google Now on Tap in Poland does not work (at least, I could not force her). Holding down the home button in any application takes you directly to the Google Now, where we get a standard card. It’s a big disappointment, because, in truth, is the most interesting novelty in this version of Android.

Other enhancements are already trinkets. We waited to finally pull-down panel volume control. Screen sharing is more condensed and useful form. Screenshots can be removed immediately from the notification bar. Such small improvements here relatively good deal.

Under the hood has changed a lot more, but it does not matter to the holder of the older Nexus. Support for fingerprint readers? Well, well, that in the end is, but I’m fine after it. Support for SD cards, which can be displayed as an internal memory of the phone? Similarly. It is good that Android is evolving and I do not want to downplay the news. However, they will be felt most of all holders of new devices. Particularly worthy of mention is the obligation to implement encryption system memory in the new smartphones – so far the producers have free rein here.

If you count that along with Android 6.0 marshmallow your device waits revolution, I deny it. The new system is not for Lollipop what Lollipop was for KitKat (or, reaching back – Ice Cream Sandwich for Gingerbread). After a week of using it, he had become only in the belief that he deserves more for designation 5.2 rather than 6.0. It does not change the fact that changes in the vast majority can be assessed only positively. Android today is a mature operating system and fewer one could argue But you already wrote his time. In this respect, Marshmallow is yet another step towards perfection.
