Applications from the Android go to Windows 10. And not just better … – Spider’s Web

All indications are that Windows 10 on phones will be the best, most convenient and most advanced system on the market. Which will at the same time very, very limited. For a relatively small possibility of expanding its capabilities through mobile applications.

Why I am a faithful user of Windows on your phone? Because I’m a specific user, who just one instant messaging instead of several, and that does not necessarily need to have an application to use his car. I’m writing a bit sarcastic, but I realize that I am the other, and not the market. In addition, the fact that more choice is a good application advantage of the operating system is beyond question. And we all know that Windows on mobile is an excellent system, which due to the lack of meaningful market penetration is not popular among developers. A lack of interest by developers, can not penetrate the market. So circle closes.

A partial solution to the problem is to be a universal Windows application 10. The system for personal computers is already a megahit, running now for well over a hundred million devices. This number will only increase. When writing applications for Windows 10 PC in a trivial way you can move it on the phone with the same operating system. The logic suggests therefore think that these applications will appear on the phone a lot. This plan, however, is not bound to succeed. Developers can decide that even very small number of man-hours required to align applications to your phone is not worth it. Hence the plan.

Android on Windows

Windows Bridge creators will be able to trivial way to move their applications from Android to Windows 10. In fact, the only thing developers will then have to do is swapping appeals to Google Play on the Microsoft’s and catching errors and faults (Windows Bridge does not provide error-free port). In this case, developers are even easier task than in the case of universal application, but in which the interface you need to think about though. They are ready mobile application, which must “odbugować” and hook to the appropriate APIs. Optionally add easy to implement modifications, such as an active tile. This creates of course a problem, which I will show below. The problem, because the thought of Windows Bridge for error. But Paul Thurrott, a famous journalist focused on Microsoft, convinced me with his arguments, which also quote.

The problem is the lack of motivation for writing native applications for Windows. Why bother if you still need to be addressed first most popular operating system in the world, so Android? And then just flip Features? In theory, encourage developers is “universality” (write on the phone, work on PC, Xbox and others). Except that what motivation is the creator of programs such as Instagram, AutoMapa or flashlight to exist on the PC? That’s right.

Thurrott in his text, however, he convinced me that the problem that would cause the Windows Bridge actually already exists. Regardless of compliance with androidowymi applications or her absence, the developers and so have no incentive to write as much and equally applying to the topic, what platforms Android and iOS. And this in the foreseeable future will not change. Multiplatform native applications for Windows 10 certainly thanks to the versatility of this system arrives. These strictly mobile – not.

And it not better to just buy an Android device?

No. Windows is invariably better and more convenient system. Functional boot screen with the active tile is the best example, and these could multiply quite a long time. That’s what made me realize the above-mentioned Thurrott, is the fact that the phone more time we spend in applications than in the operating system. System Microsoft applications are excellent, you can also give many examples of third parties. But even hardened fanboj Microsoft admits that Google Play, in terms of the final, is incomparably better.

This means that Windows Bridge theoretically combine the best of two worlds. The quality and functionality of Windows 10 and the wealth of applications from the Play Store. Unfortunately, this is just a theory. The porting of Android to be even easier than within Windows 10 (because you do not have to think about the layout of the interface), which should finally convince application developers. It should, because you may not convince.

It’s actually a great opportunity for phones with Windows. But I hope not the last, according to Thurrott. Microsoft’s mobile system for suits me very well, I would want him and my Lumia say goodbye to the Nexus.
