Remix OS 2.0, Android to PC, now also available for tablets … – PCLab.pl

Remix OS 2.0 is based on the Android operating system and it has been designed so that it can be used like a typical system for the desktop. Now the software has been made available for the tablet Google Nexus 9 and Nexus 10.

Android tablets over the years has not changed much. Google is at the stage of development of Android 3.0 “Honyecomb” made some changes to the user interface, which had to adapt the platform to operate on screens larger than I mainly 4-inch smartphones. Despite some news, Android tablets supports almost the same as on your smartphone, and despite the passage of years, it practically does not change. Perhaps this is their chance stalked Microsoft, which since the days of Windows 8 try their hand in this sector of the market.

Perhaps the lack of a clear development of Android for tablets that makes the application developers do not feel the pressure to optimize its software for smartphones, so as to better look and work on larger screens. Certainly one of the major disadvantages of Android on tablets, but also personal computers, is the lack of even native support for multiple application windows, the taskbar with active programs. Creators Remix OS decided to take matters into their own hands and created an operating system based on Android, in which service applications and files is the same as on a traditional PC.

it is worth recalling that behind the project team Jide Technology earlier this year announced that it has joined forces with the project Android-x86. The result of this collaboration was to ensure the release Remix OS that could run on older PCs with processors based on the x86 architecture.

Now Jide Technology provides Remix OS 2.0 tablet Nexus 9 and Nexus 10, so that their users able to use them, such as use of a conventional PC screen. Remix OS 2.0 for Nexus is based on Android 5.1.1, and therefore not the latest version. This should not surprise anyone. Preparation heavily customized edition of the operating system usually requires some work, so the end result (in this case Remix OS 2.0) will always be at least one step backwards with respect to the base design.

Remix OS 2.0 is available in versions beta and it is possible that Jide Technology will focus on obtaining the final release, and not switching to Android 6.0 “Marshmallow”, especially on the horizon already appears next – Android 7.0 “N”. You can not fail to notice that it is the seventh generation of Android has finally introduce support for multiple application windows. For teams Remix OS maybe it will not be a problem, and the only basis for the development of more sophisticated solutions and achieve better integration with the AOSP.
