Zidoo X9 – Android Media Player and Video Recorder in one – dobreprogramy

Zidoo X9 for me is a unique product on the market, not only because of its price, but also several features that distinguish it from those described by me earlier boxes based on Android. First of all, the player is “driven” by a quad-core processor MSO9180 (Cortex A9) Mstar company. It also features a USB 3.0 port, LED display, and after that everyone has a HDMI input, so that we can record content from a connected device.

The carton

Zidoo X9 is packed in a cardboard disputes in where you will find of this box, remote control, AC adapter and HDMI cable.

Appearance

Design Zidoo X9 is not exaggerated, in a nutshell is an aluminum rectangular with rounded corners. But let’s get to the details. The front of the device is equipped with an IR receiver and segment display white color, which is responsible for displaying the current time or other, a variety of information, eg. As boot-up. In my view, this display is a cool accent. On the left side of the unit have been placed three USB ports (including one 3.0), an SD card slot and vents (note that the aluminum casing acts as a large heat sink – so that excess heat is discharged to the outside). The remainder of the ports provided in the back. Accompanied by two large antennas WiFi (from left to right) we have: the power switch, 10/100 Ethernet, SPDIF, reset button, HDMI In, Composite Video, HDMI, and power input. For me Zidoo X9 has an attractive appearance. Its small size (SIZE) and the metal housing make a really nice view.

Inside

“Deconstruction” Zidoo X9 did not cause me any problems – just enough to loosen the screws from the bottom and gently pull the lower case for rubber feet. Then, to get to the top plate had to unscrew the screws further. As we know from the introduction system is driven MSO9810D1R Mstar CPU that was hidden under a generous heatsink (not decided on his removal, because I did not want to damage the heart of the system), along with four bones Nanya to receive 2 GB of ram. The album also find 8 GB of flash memory from Samsung.

First start / Applications / System

After pulling out of the box and the power supply and an HDMI cable box directly suitable for use. Start-up time takes about 40 seconds, the time display shows successively subtitle “boot” – & gt; “Hello”. After that, just wait until our TV screen appears ZIUI – user interface created by Zidoo, which I think is pretty and functional. Many manufacturers of this type of equipment or introduces minimal changes in the interface, or simply self-Launcher. Returning to ZIUI starts with smooth animation – falling tiles (application categories), which later are arranged in one row. Each tile is a different color, as well as an icon and a label, making it easy to identify the category. It is a pity that the missing features “auto-categorization” applications would be useful here. Animations navigate the menus are smooth and pleasing to the eye – just polished interface. As for the whole UI personalization – here we d o not have much choice. ZIUI several themes to choose from, which are practically only change the background.

Installed applications

The Zidoo X9 has been pre-installed some “useful” application. Among other things, were AirDroid, Clear Manager, Movie Studio, and of course could not miss kombajan Kodi (once XBMC).

System

System (Android 4.4.2) is running well, I have not experienced any wywałki or spontaneous reboot. All tests were conducted on the software version 1.0.2.6 – is the newest soft available through OTA update.

Playing media files

Testing Zidoo X9 started from Antutu Video Tester 2.2, because in my opinion, this app works well and gives a quick view with which codec device can handle, and what not. Active as always bears the general wynikiem.Naturalnie “flew” also by the contents of your package test. Video in Full HD and high Bitra game smoothly, it is worse with a resolution of 4K, because movies are played back smoothly to 50 fps per second, the other – the higher or the many fascinating, or hear only the sound. Real in the statement:

  • H.264 (MP4 container) – 480p / 720p / 1080p / 1080p60 – everything worked OK
  • Codec MPEG2 (MPG container) – 480p / 720p / 1080p – OK,
  • Codec MPEG4 (AVI container) – 480p / 720p / 1080p – OK
  • codec VC1 (WMV) – 480p / 720p / 1080p – OK
  • Real Media RV8, RV9, RV10 (RMVB) – 720p – no game, no support
  • codec VP8 (WebM) 480p / 720p / 1080p – OK
  • H.265 codec ( TS) – 360p / 720p / 1080p – about
  • H.264 (MP4) – 4K 24fps / 25fps / 50fps – OK
  • H.264 (MP4) – 4K 60fps – only the sound
  • H.264 (MKV) – 4k – OK
  • Codec VP9 (WebM) – 4K 25fps – no sound, video, OK
  • Codec H.265 (TS) – 4K 23,976fps – about

Sometimes, for unknown reasons, I could not play box audio, some files containing AAC – so far I have not found the “key” to this behavior . And most importantly, the same action Kodi (XBMC) is not stable, it happens that the application shuts down, or hangs the entire device – it still has to improve.

Stress Tests – benchmarks

Zidoo X9 the first product that was based on Mstar chip MS09810, so I was curious what kind of scores of complete set of performance tests prepared by AnTuTu, 3DMark, GeekBeench3 and Vellamo.Wyniki shown in the above shots are very good. During the tests Zidoo housing heats up quite a bit and the temperature is felt.

In games

Zidoo X9 performs well as a gaming console, without any problem we will play on it in 2D games (including Fruit Ninja, Plants vs Zombies 2, Angry Birds), as well as those more demanding 3D (Asphalt 8: Airborne, Beach Buggy Racing), although sometimes there MSTAR system can not cope and we note comma during an ongoing game.

Memory

With 8 GB of internal memory available to the user is 5.46 GB – divided into two partitions 1.97 GB and 3.49 GB of system data. Naturally, we can expand the memory through an SD card, or connect an external drive. A1 SD Bench researched read and write speeds of internal memory, and how connected drive. The results were very good:

  • The internal memory read / write: 40.61 / 25.29 MB / s
  • SD card read / write: 24,01 / 20,31 MB / s
  • USB disk read / write: 37,91 / 30,40 MB / s
  • RAM (the speed of copying): 991.69 MB / s

HDMI Capture

X9 Zidoo advantage is its ability to capture video from the HDMI port. This feature has been implemented very well. From the menu, we can choose several options resolution, format, length, and we can schedule a future recording by setting the exact date. Naturally, we can change the saving path to an external hard – if you plan to record longer material. Intercepted material for me is of good quality – sometimes there is no difference between the recorded copy, and the original source. Another advantage of this approach is that the device can handle HDCP security handling, so you can easily capture gameplay videos of our consoles, or content that comes from STB receivers – of course everything for his own use.

Conclusion

For me, this device has potential. Zidoo easily cope with playing all formats of audio / video. In addition to this basic functionality, which was created has USB 3.0 and function of ripping content from HDMI – what distinguishes it from other so far described my media player based on Android. System and developed by engineers Zidoo UI works very smoothly and steadily. It is important that the manufacturer provides regular updates, so that any errors and user comments are revised on an ongoing basis.

Pros:

  • HDMI output with pvr function
  • Support formats 4k
  • b. good performance of the system
  • user interface
  • [itemaktualizacje OTA [/item]

  • hard living blog and forum

Cons:

  • Kodi problems
  • housing heats up during load
