Remix OS, a desktop Android on my laptop … – dobreprogramy

Remix OS is Android, which was not yet. The system was designed and developed with the Chinese Jide. Initially, he had only to drive the device, but was finally completely free of charge to the image. This is the alpha version, so it is difficult to expect that everything will work perfectly. The foundation of the system is open source Android x86 (5.1.1 Lollipop). The rest is completely original design.

Creating a bootable USB flash drive with the OS Remix is really simple. By downloading the image from the official website of the project, we also get a small program to complete the entire process. What is important – not our formats on a USB key, but only copies the appropriate files, so we need to do it manually. The creators recommend here USB 3.0 flash drives that support the FAT32 file system (and it should be formatted), they have at least 8 GB capacity and allow the write speed at 20 MB / s. For me it was only 13.9 MB / s, and the system started, but need a little more time.

Start also may require us some wprawyi. First of all, we must make sure that we have an active boot Legacy. The UEFI mode, unfortunately, memory is not detected. It should be borne in mind and do not be discouraged too quickly. The same applies to the start-up process. Here we first choose whether you want to enter in the guest mode or resident. At first no data is stored on the USB key, and in the second – on the contrary. As you might guess, the residents wait much longer to boot – especially the first time. And here comes another problem, because the system creates for our support additional data partition invisible from Windows. Do not be surprised, therefore, as the next time you connect it to your computer you will see a smaller capacity than before. The good news is certainly that Remix OS run not only on PCs but also Macs.

When he finally Remix OS will start, we will see on the screen a simple wizard, through which we will configure the system language (the list is not Polish – find it then in the system settings), we accept the license terms, and connect to a WiFi network. Once that’s done, we’ll see nice presenting the desktop straight from Windows.

At the bottom edge we have a beam acting as the taskbar. In the lower left corner we have the impressive panel of installed applications. Implemented here search and sorting mechanism. There were also a button for resetting, sleep and shutdown. Right next to the menu button and you find the icon back home, followed by a list of running applications – just like in Windows. The opposite side of the beam to the tray with all its values in the form of a calendar, panels Manage WiFi and Bluetooth, and text input, volume control, and a mechanism for cleaning RAM, and click the extending the notifications panel. This strongly resembles its counterpart from Windows. At its lower edge you can find more icons including activation mode without notification, capture screenshots and hiding the lower beam.

Remix OS project is currently in the alpha version, so before the creators of a long way to go to create a tool fully functional and suitable for everyday work. But does it make sense? What I system, which is dyed Android and imitates Windows? Applications are few. We can carry it with you always, and this in itself is an advantage. Therefore, we have at hand your favorite programs and the necessary files. It’s more versatile than the cloud or web applications because it does not require network connectivity. We can hook up anywhere to the computer and continue the work completed. This solution will certainly find its supporters.
