Have an Android smartphone – check whether it contains a vulnerability … – Computerworld

The tool has been developed by specialists working in the company ESET and is named ESET Stagefright Detector. In fact, the vulnerability of Stagefright consists of seven different vulnerabilities in the system, Android, which allow an attack on the smartphone. There are two scenarios here. A hacker attacks your smartphone via MMS (of course without the knowledge or user activity) or via a specially crafted link. In the latter case, the user must click the resulting link.

The vulnerability allows eg to access all data on the device, as well as microphone and webcam, which allows for eavesdropping and peeping victims.

And now the most important. A user who does not know how to check whether the device has a gap, it can verify by using a free application ESET Stagefright Detector available in Google Play. To install it, please click this link.

And what if it turns out that our smartphone has this gap. Experts from ESET are doing – must be in the system settings to disable the option that allows you to automatically download content to the MMS. Make it difficult for us of course lives, but security is probably more important.
