Android is an operating system that has as many supporters as opponents and, above all, in the course of various debates online. Let’s face it, most of the millions of users around the world the details do not interest. There is no doubt, however, that this is now the most popular mobile system, which he indeed used not only in phones and tablets, and which in addition occurs in many various forms. Often, negative feedback associated with it apply to modifications created by manufacturers, because they bring both aggravating overlay, and a lot of unnecessary software that slows down the whole system. But pure Android straight from Google is a far better solution which is without any flaws? Definitely not, in many cases it falls on worse – is also directed to a not very demanding group of users.
Pure Android and Nexus – it would seem that this is the perfect combination. And yet, to the ideal of a lot missing.
The essence of pure Android would not take much AOSP project as devices Nexus line: it is for them because we find a combination of hardware and software theoretically tailor-made. With equipment of this kind I have encountered many times, because I used his time with the Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 5, and Nexus 7 in edition of 2013. In retrospect, I have to say that, in any case, they were not call worth the money. Yes, the equipment fared beautifully, but the stumbling block is … just pure Android. Why? For the moment to move on, but first I will focus on today’s hero, or Nexus 9, which some time ago came from my evil paws and from which I am not completely happy, what happened indeed driving force for the creation of this column.
Nexus 9 is no longer a new device – just mention that several days ago Google completed its sale in the Play store. There is also the old equipment, he made his debut in autumn 2014. It is true that even then the tablet market seemed to slowly shrink, but after a fairly successful Nexus 7, the company decided to go with the flow and created another model, this time in collaboration with HTC. Model N9, however, was something else, especially because of the price: $ 399 for 16 GB version and $ 479 for 32 GB meant a much greater expense and the end of the “era of cheap Nexus” from specific hardware specifications. Not surprisingly, that has never won it too much popularity and is unlikely to be remembered as something that changed the market for good.
So why I decided on this particular tablet, mimomimo that officially never made it to Polish? Well, it is difficult to find equipment that is not too large (around 9 “), which is quite efficient, has a decent display, as well as, say, a new Android. Manufacturers offer us small appliances or somewhere near the border fabletów or huge tray for cutting meat. And I needed something to books, both fiction and a little more technical, where there are eg. Pieces of code. Here mentioned dimension would be ideal, and did not offer him too many manufacturers do not offer the Apple, putting on larger displays. What to do? I shied away from Android, but the Nexus 9 seemed to be a very interesting device. I have nothing against, but let them take care of additional options to better configure the main screen, from where we spend a little time yet.
Another disadvantage of the system is the lack of opportunities to work with multiple windows and applications simultaneously. Yes, Android is not in the standard, but I mention this option, because some manufacturers think about it: I was able to use it even in leciwym already somewhat LG G2, or smartphone, not a tablet! The plans involved are in their infancy and it is possible that the situation will change only with the new Android. And now? Well … I still say that I would prefer heavier Android, a modified cap, which will give me more opportunities and that will make the tablet will not be merely a copy of a smartphone with a larger screen, but something really meaningful.
