The scale of vulnerable devices reaches more than 900 million.

The errors relate to software code that controls communication between the various processes in the phone and that supports graphics. Vulnerabilities can also provide opportunity to acquire passwords, track position using GPS and video recording and thanked environment.

These gaps called Quadrooter, were revealed at this year’s Def Con 24. Adam Donenfeld – principal investigator of mobile security at Check Point, he revealed that researchers discovered until four major vulnerability in Android devices with chipsets Qualcommu, which is the world’s largest provider of LTE chipsets, with 65 percent market share of the Android ecosystem. Since the exposed drivers are installed on the device by the manufacturer at the factory, the solution probelmów gaps will not be easy. He noted Michael Shaulovwszelkie holes can be repaired only by installing patches provided by the manufacturer. These, however, can be created only after the receipt of the relevant new driver packages from Qualcomm.

Checkpoint has created a free app – QuadRooter Scanner, which you can use to verify that the phone includes any of the errors. The application checks whether the bugfix updates have been downloaded and installed. It is available in the Google Play store, under the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.checkpoint.quadrooter

Currently, however, has no no indication of abuse by hackers. Not excluded is that soon we will see the effects of the error. “ I’m pretty sure that these gaps will be used in the next three to four months ” – adds the head of mobile product in Checkpoint Michael Shaulov.
