Remix OS, amazing Android desktops available on … – Antyweb

Remember RemixOS? The system I wrote a year ago. Then at CES it appeared the device that is a clone of Microsoft Surface and fitted precisely in such a modified Android. Now the man behind the startup Jide promises to make it available on PC and Mac.

During this year the project has evolved. The creators, however, clung to the original idea. The result is a desktop Android – literally. The whole system is based on the Android-x86, which is already two years developed on open source. User Interface nothing but Android does not like. In this respect Remix OS is unique and one of a kind. The applications are run in the windows here, we have the classic file manager, taskbar, menus – virtually all designed in the style of Windows. Of course, complemented by support for mouse and keyboard. Interestingly, still we can use widgets. All maintained in a consistent style flat design – in this respect have to admit that looks perfectly. It would be best if you see it ourselves – in the following video.

Initially Remix OS operating system had to be tied to a specific device. At last year’s CES, showing a tablet with a keyboard, and some time later – Mini PC. Already on January 12 Jide but it is also available as a system image (integrated with a bunch of Google, and so also with full access to the store Play). As a result, we can install it on your computer as the main software, put on a virtual machine or eg. To create a bootable USB stick, for which encourage creators themselves. Remix OS will be available at no charge. Jide wants to make money rather on sale of equipment (and eventually perhaps additional services), and so can afford this movement. Although it’s hard to resist the suspicion. No one but the creators do not know what is inside. And if in a few months there will be information about the codes or sales tracking data? And if for half a year the system will start displaying ads? Here we can only speculate.

Honestly Remix OS most zainstalowałbym on … your Chromebook (if only I had Chromebooks x86, it would gladly stay behind it took – my Acer drives the (un) fortunately Nvidia Tegra chip). The system seems to be exactly what Google should make Chrome OS. At least I got that impression. Visually it is a real feast for the eyes. From the functional – the great unknown. Although the network can already be found opinions about Jide devices. Developers at XDA tested, eg. Their tablet, where he drew attention to the underdeveloped software. May Remix OS 2.0 was without any niedoróbek.

This type of system is also because of other reasons – there are more and more hybrid devices. Windows 10 dominates here, which some may not fully responding. With such Remix OS can easily create their engine two operating systems (assuming you get access to UEFI, and enforce the start of a USB flash drive), of which each is optimized for mouse and keyboard. Do not tell me that does not sound encouraging.
