Soon the time – the first car with Android Auto finally hit … – Spider’s Web

Users of smartphones with Android who are eagerly awaited appearance on the market of the first car equipped with this system can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Although the spread of this solution is still a long way to go, first, very important step has already Progress has.

The wait we had at this really long and effects , at least for now, they are rather not particularly impressive. For the record, Android Auto made its debut almost exactly a year ago – in June 2014 at the conference Google. It is not difficult to guess what his task, nor who his main opponent. For the management of car cockpits in fact also it took Apple to form (though equally slowly) CarPlay.

The product from Cupertino, moreover, a little ahead of his rival, appearing now as an option in several mass car models projected beyond the borders of our country. You can even order one (yes, one) model offered in Poland, although this option is not enough, that it is quite expensive, there’s more we order a kit, and … the possibility of its subsequent installation, or simply the installation at the end of this year.

In addition, the independent producers of accessories for the car tried for some time to sell customers for self-assembly kits. This type of central processing units, expensive, and require effort from the user (or finding a suitable workshop) rather never contribute to the popularization of neither one nor the other solutions. It is rather a loophole for those who do not want to change cars, yet they want to take advantage of the innovations offered by Android and Apple Auto CarPlay.

Since this week but in the end we have to deal with the first car, which is factory- Auto Android system.

Unfortunately, at this end with good information for those who would benefit from such facilities in our country. The first manufacturer who decided to use AA because Hyundai is offering Android in a car on the Polish market reach Sonata model. However with a high degree of certainty assume that over time this will also supplement to other models of the brand, as well as outside the United States.

Is it worth the wait? Even disregarding the fact that this is the first approach Google to take control (of course not absolute) over our screen in the car, everything indicates that definitely yes. Car manufacturers have probably long since shown that when it comes to designing the UI for touch devices, not really cope. At the same time, interface, application or how to handle smartphones and tablets we are simply accustomed to. Who benefits from the iPhone, this will not have any problems with CarPlayem. Who has a smartphone with Android, the Android Auto will immediately feel at home.

The first reviews, including, .in. This prepared by the WSJ, they are confirmed by all what you might expect. Although the platform is young and is with her still much to do, it is more convenient and easier to use than standard systems. For this is simply a more “familiar” and with a possible change of the car will not have to absolutely nothing new to learn.

The advantage of the built-AA may also lie elsewhere. You can guess that the system will be developed on a principle similar to that which we know from the phone. Adding to this the fact that the “brain” will be here in large part because of a smartphone, not necessarily will have to put up with the need to replace the entire car, so as not to be left behind. Hardly anyone mentions the cars anyway as often as phones.

As if that were not enough, there is a chance that Android Auto or CarPlay will wait at least a little bit safer from the regular use of the phone (no connection to BT or another set) in while driving. If you have already some are so deprived of reason, that we really need to do this, let’s do it this way.

What next? This as yet unknown. It has long been clear that there is no need to automobile manufacturers tortured themselves with their, often mediocre, systems, while our favorite operating systems still carry with you on the phone. The Verge suggests that Google and Apple can work on developing their proposals to the form in which they will replace the car factory software.

And I think anyone such a development does not surprise you.
