The first ever single-digit increase in sales of smartphones … – wirtualnemedia.pl

Analysts IDC lowered its previous forecast, which assumed that sales of smartphones in the world will increase in 2015 by 10.4 per cent., to 1.44 billion units. Now foresee score of 1.43 billion units, with the first ever single-digit market growth rate.

The updated estimates by the research firm explains a slower growth of smartphone sales in Asia and the Pacific (excluding Japan), Latin America and Western Europe. What’s more, this trend is expected to continue in the coming years: the period 2015-2019 is expected to average annual growth rate of 7.4 percent.

Among the operating systems installed on newly sold smartphones dominant position is to maintain the Android projected market share at 81.2 per cent. in 2015 and 82.6 per cent. in 2019.

Global sales of Android devices in the years 2015 to 2019 is expected to increase from 1.16 billion to 1.54 billion units, while in the case of a second in the ranking of the Apple iOS platform – with 226 million to 263.4 million units.
